I have to say...he definitely lived up to his name.

From the day Pogo showed up on our doorstep I knew there was something different about him. For those of you who are not familiar with how Pogo came to be a member of our family, please allow me to give you the short version. He mysteriously appeared in our front yard one evening, and being a family of animal lovers we of course brought him inside. In spite of our best efforts we were unable to find where it was he came from or who his owners were, and made the decision to provide him with his furever home. Now that he was officially part of the family we needed to give him a name, and because he was quite a bouncy little dog we settled on Pogo. Almost four years have passed since the evening he appeared on our doorstep and you would think we'd know all there is to know about Pogo, but today I saw him do something I've never seen him do before. Pogo, like a lot of dogs, is not a fan of squirrels, and there is one squirrel in our backyard who seems to be particularly fond of taunting him. Normally once Pogo spots his nemesis he bolts straight towards it at top speed only to be disappointed as the squirrel heads for the nearest tree, promptly turning around to chatter at Pogo from the safety of the branches. Today, instead of bolting at his nemesis Pogo hopped off of the patio and proceeded to prance across the backyard towards the squirrel. I use the word prance because there really is no other way to describe how Pogo made his way across the yard. I only wish I'd had my phone so I could have taken a video of it, but alas I did not...I was however able to find a gif of a prancing deer which perfectly mimicked Pogo's movements (I swear that is exactly what he looked like). While today's method of pursuit was different, the outcome was the same...Pogo's nemesis once again made it to the tree and began chattering noisily at him from the safety of the branches. I'm not sure which upset Pogo more...the fact that his nemesis once again avoided capture, or my uncontrollable fit of laughter. I can always rely on at least one of my animals to give me a reason to laugh daily, and today I have Pogo to thank for my laughter. Hopefully my account of his antics has provided you with a laugh as well.
Blessings, Candi š
