What a lovely sight it was!

Today has been a quiet one here in Central Texas. It's been a sunny day with the normal Central Texas springtime temperatures...and winds. It seems it's not a normal day here in Central Texas unless the wind is blowing hard enough to ensure the flags fly straight at all times. I must say...it was a welcome change from yesterday's overcast weather. The sunshine and warmer temperatures have brought with them some truly lovely early spring blooms. The beautiful bluebonnets and many other wildflowers have been blooming all over Central Texas for the past two or so weeks, and now I am noticing other early spring blooms such as daffodils, narcissus, crocus, and irises have started to bloom as well. There is one very special iris I look forward to seeing bloom each spring. While this iris is dear to me, it is much more dear to the Hubs as well as his mother. I'm sure you're wondering "just what is it that makes this particular iris so special, is it some rare species of iris, or some rare color of iris?". The answer to both is no. What makes this particular iris so special is where it came from. This special iris was gifted to me by the Hubs' mother when she and my father-in-law moved a few years ago...but that was not the first time it had been transplanted. This lovely iris was originally planted by the Hubs' grandmother, his mom's mom, and after her passing the Hubs' mom moved them to her yard, eventually leading to them being transplanted here in Central Texas. I am always happy to see the first bloom of this iris (for the first year or so they did not bloom and I was terrified I had killed the only remaining flowering plants entrusted to me), it's a nice feeling knowing both the Hubs and his mother will enjoy the wonderful memories brought back at the sight of this lovely pale purple iris bloom. Hopefully you too will have wonderful memories brought back to you by the sight of something as simple as the bloom of a lovely flower.
Blessings, Candi 💕
