And it was quite a view!

It has been a rather damp and dreary day here in Central Texas, the type of day which has you looking for things to occupy yourself with that don’t involve being outdoors. As I had not had much luck with my crafting project, I just didn’t have the steady hand or patience needed for it today, I decided it would be a good day to tackle a project I have long been putting off. The one year anniversary of my mother’s passing is approaching and I have yet to go through a box of pictures and keepsakes I found while emptying her apartment. Little did I know just what it was I was getting myself into! It seems this box contained items my mother had boxed up after my father’s passing over eight years ago and had not opened since. As I pulled out the many smaller individual boxes of pictures and keepsakes it quickly became apparent to me I come from a long line of pack rats on both sides of my family! There were photos dating to the early 1900‘s of relatives whose names have long since been lost with the passing of time (it seems my Granny Violet was not one for putting names, or dates, on the backs of photographs), but I was able to identify at least those relatives within the last four generations on my father’s side of the family. There were many photos of my mother‘s side of the family as well, thankfully they had names and dates on the back, some of which I had never before seen. Sorting through all the photos and keepsakes brought back many fond memories and introduced me to several relatives I had not had the chance to meet as they had passed before, or shortly after, I was born. There are many items I will most likely send on to others in my family, as the photos or keepsakes will have more meaning to them then myself. It seems only right to forward those items so they too may enjoy the fond memories and cherished mementos of their close family members. As I bring this post to a close, I hope you too will take the time to sort through any family photos or keepsakes you may have and enjoy many fond memories of your own.
Blessings, Candi 💕
