It would appear Mr. Leprechaun has brought Spring with him!
Today’s weather has been the total opposite of yesterday’s weather, and ditto for my mood. The sun decided to grace Central Texas with her presence today, and even though the wind also decided to make it‘s presence known it was still a beautiful day to be out and about. As I drove around town to complete today’s errands I was overjoyed to see the first signs of the arrival of Spring. In the fields the grass is becoming green once again, the first tender green shoots of leaves are emerging on the trees, flowerbeds are showing signs of new life with the emergence of lillies, irises, and narcissus flowers, and the delicate pink blooms of the crabapple trees along with the striking purple blooms of the redbud trees are emerging. Most importantly though, the bluebonnets are beginning to emerge and cover fields and roadsides all along Central Texas. There are few things quite as striking as the sight of a pasture or rolling hillside covered in the vibrant blooms of the bluebonnet flower combined with the vibrant oranges and yellows of other wildflowers. For the next few weeks here in Central Texas you will see car after car pulled off to the side of the road so individuals and even entire families can take advantage of the stunning fields of flowers for use as a backdrop for family photos (you won’t find me out there though...it would seem rattlesnakes also enjoy the bluebonnets). It is not only the plant life beginning to emerge...it would seem the geckos are also venturing out to enjoy the rising temperatures and sunshine as well. With the beautiful colors and blooms coming to life replacing the dull grays and browns of winter, spring has always been my favorite season as it represents a renewal of the beauty of the world around me. Knowing today’s first blooms are just the beginning filled me with happiness and I can’t wait for nature to come fully back to life. I hope you too will begin to see the first signs of spring and the renewal it brings with it.
Blessings, Candi 💕
