But I didn't even leave the house!
The Hubs and I have been blessed in the past few years to have had the opportunity to travel abroad for vacations. We've traveled to Ireland where the landscape is a multitude of shades of green, castles abound, every village has a pub, the sheep outnumber the people, and the people are some of the friendliest you'll ever meet. We've traveled to Scotland where the Queen spends her summers at Balmoral Castle, the Highlands are covered in sheep, the lochs are deep
and clear, and once again the people are some of the nicest you'll ever meet. And last, but not least, we've traveled to Portugal where the history and architecture date back the the twelfth century, churches and monasteries abound, the houses are covered in colorful tiles and flora, and you guessed it...the people are some of the most welcoming you'll ever meet. This past year we had planned on traveling to Greece, but as you know COVID put an end to international travel (as well as life as we know it), effectively canceling any plans we had of traveling abroad, and it would seem traveling internationally will not be an option for the foreseeable future. While we have our travel trailer and have been exploring parts of the United States we've never seen before, I still miss the adventure of traveling to different parts of the world and being able to immerse myself in the landscape, history, and culture. While I may not physically be able to travel the world, I have found a way to do so virtually. When the world first went into lockdown in March of 2020 I was introduced to a Facebook group called "What do you see from your window?", it's a group whose members at first posted pictures of what they were able to see from their windows, but as the world has begun to reopen they are now posting pictures of the sights of their cities or towns. Today I stumbled across pictures of an umbrella covered market in Jerusalem, a Düsseldorf cityscape reflected in a beautiful river, and many, many more. Being able to travel the world through those photos was fun, but knowing the world is beginning to return to normal, and people are once again able to travel, explore, and share their part of the world with others truly made my heart a little lighter today. If you are in need of a change of scenery I hope you too will find a way to do so...even if it means you have to do so virtually.
Blessings, Candi 💕
