And it would seem...always will.
What does one do first thing in the morning on their birthday? I don't know about the rest of the world, but I watch animal videos of course! Domestic animals, farm animals, wild animals, zoo animals...any feel good funny video featuring one or all of the above will do (I'm not fussy). One video in particular, posted on Facebook by The Humane Society of Central Texas, caught my attention almost immediately. Recently a local fencing company blessed HSCTX by providing the labor and materials needed to construct several much needed outdoor play areas for the dogs being housed at the shelter. HSCTX sees quite a lot of dogs, particularly large breed mixes, and cats, yet in spite of the high volume of animals passing through their doors on a daily basis, their staff and volunteers work diligently to maintain their status as a "no kill" shelter. Some of the animals have been housed in the shelter for months, and in some cases over a year, but the staff and volunteers do all they can to make sure every animal is well taken care of and given the best chance of being adopted, fostered, or placed with a rescue organization. A large part of keeping their dogs happy and healthy is to make sure they have plenty of exercise and stimulation outside of their kennels which is now possible thanks to their newly constructed play areas. In an effort to raise public awareness of the animals available for adoption or fostering the staff post videos of their daily play groups, and this morning I came across the video (click on the photo to view the full video) of a play group with several large (and extremely energetic) dogs, one of whom was named Chance. Chance stood out to me for two reasons...not only was Chance one of only two white dogs in the group, but he also had a rather unique set of markings...markings that make it look as if he recently sat his bottom end in a rather large mud puddle! Watching his dirty looking back end (including even the underside of his tail) bounce around and play made me burst out laughing. Should you decide to watch the video for yourself I hope it will do the same for you.
Blessings, Candi 💕
HSCTX, like all animal shelters, is in desperate need of funds. If you would like to help out please click on the link. 🐾
