At least in the town of Vail, AZ anyway.
The Hubs and I headed out of Carlsbad, NM bright and early this morning headed for Tucson, AZ. Our first stop was Carlsbad Caverns National Park, and in spite of what the website had to say, they too were shut down for two weeks starting today. Even though we weren’t able to see the caverns we still wandered the area and took in some stunning views. After leaving the caverns our next stop was El Paso, TX where we decided to have lunch. If you are ever in El Paso and enjoy Mexican food I highly recommend you check out Carlos & Mickey’s, they have the largest tortilla chips I have ever seen! After enjoying our lunch, the Hubs and I decided to walk to a nearby Dunkin’ Donuts to grab a couple of coffees for the long trip ahead to Tucson. All was going fine until we had to merge onto Interstate 10 West. As the Hubs merged into the heavy traffic the tractor trailer coming up on our left had a blow out and the noise it made scared the bejesus out of both the Hubs and I...we thought for sure someone or something had hit the trailer! Once both our hearts restarted we realized that horrendous noise did not mean we had hit anything, and it was in fact the unfortunate occurrence of a blow out for the poor soul driving the tractor trailer (he was eventually able to pull off to the shoulder and no one was harmed...thank God). Thankfully the rest of the trip to Tucson was uneventful! And now is when I finally reveal the other farm animal that free ranges...drum roll please...it’s CATTLE! We decided to stop for dinner in Vail, a town just outside of Tucson, before pulling into our campground and getting set up. As we exited Interstate 10 West we drove over a cattle grate and I said to the Hubs “surely that is not a cattle grate just off the exit of the interstate” to which he replied “surely not, maybe it’s some sort of drainage for rainwater”, it was at that moment the Hubs noticed a sign with a picture of a cow and the warning “beware of free ranging cattle”. I have to say that was definitely a first for both the Hubs and I...we definitely got a chuckle out of it and luckily we did not come across any free ranging cattle! All in all it was another wonderful day spent with the Hubs and now I’m off to bed. I hope you too have had a wonderful day and have an even better one tomorrow!
Blessings, Candi 💕
