And it was one BIG item!

The Hubs and I decided to take a leap of faith today and step off over an abyss...and it was one AWESOME experience! We have both had seeing the Grand Canyon on our bucket lists and today we were able to check it off of our lists. We ventured out of Flagstaff and made the three hour trek to the Western Rim of the Grand Canyon, a trek which as an added bonus takes you through the Joshua Tree Forest and it is an absolutely beautiful sight. The big attraction of the Western Rim is the Skywalk which is a glass walkway extended out over the canyon that allows you to look down at the canyon as you are walking across it. Once we arrived at the Grand Canyon were taken to the Western Rim by shuttle bus. Said shuttle bus dropped us off at literally the edge of the canyon. We merely had to walk fifty feet or so and we were able to walk to the very edge of the canyon! There are no barriers or railings, simply a little sign posted off to the side reading “Caution, Falling Hazard” (I guess they figure if you go over the edge you probably shouldn’t have gotten so close dummy!). We were very fortunate and the wait to venture out onto the skywalk was a short one. After having our picture taken we were set loose to wander across the skywalk for as long as we so desired. I can’t convey just how strange a sensation it is to be looking down into the canyon while walking across a glass bridge. Your brain is screaming at you the entire way...this is not right, there is something wrong here, DANGER, DANGER, DANGER! Even with my brain screaming at me I was still having an awesome time! Too often we fall back into what we feel is comfortable and safe, and in doing so I think we deprive ourselves of the opportunity to grow as a person. It was a wonderful feeling knowing I’d pushed myself out of my comfort zone. In doing so I have grown and even learned a new appreciation for the small things in life, like gazing up at a breathtaking night sky full of stars. I hope you too will push yourself out of your comfort zone and have an awesome time while doing so.

Blessings, Candi 💕
