Okay...so maybe it wasn’t with the actual man himself, but it’s about as close as you can get to it.

After watching the sun rise and paint the mountains with a warm, beautiful glow the Hubs and I set out from Flagstaff bound for Albuquerque. I have to tell you, the Hubs and I were both very happy to discover our planned route of travel would bring us through the quaint town of Winslow, AZ. Winslow was made famous by a song that goes a little something like this...Well, I‘m a standin‘ on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, Such a fine sight to see, It’s a girl, my Lord, in a flat-bed Ford, Slowin’ down to take a look at me. Glenn Frey and the Eagles put the town of Winslow on the map, and in return the town dedicated an entire corner for a bronze statue of Glenn Frey...complete with a mural depicting the song’s lyrics (if you look closely enough you may even spot an Eagle watching over the corner as well). The shoulders of the statue have been rubbed to a sheen by the thousands of fans that have stopped to pose for a picture with it. The Hubs and I have both been long time fans of the Eagles and were blessed to be able to see them play in Shreveport on what was to be their final tour with the original members. Sadly it wasn’t lang after that tour that Glenn Frey passed away. Now we will have not only the memories of a fantastic concert, but a picture of the two of us with one of rocks original legends...taken on a corner in Winslow, Arizona. The fond memories brought back by our stop in Winslow helped to make the remaining three hours of our drive from the pine covered mountains of Arizona to the high desert mountains of New Mexico pass by easily. While the contrast of the landscapes in these two areas is remarkable to see, they still each possess an awe inspiring beauty of their own. The beauty of the world God has created never fails to amaze me. It‘s been another wonderful day spent making new and special memories with my best friend. Hopefully you will make some special memories of your own to cherish with your best friend as well.

Blessings, Candi 💕
