Okay...so maybe it was more scrub than sand, but it’s still considered a desert.

The Hubs and I continued the eastbound portion of our journey today traveling from Albuquerque to Amarillo. Once we left the mountains surrounding Albuquerque we had a four hour trek along Interstate 40 that brought us through a desert consisting of mostly scrub. Trust me when I tell you it is one of the most desolate treks I have ever taken. There is not much along that particular route, not even the usual small towns whose main attraction is the tourist trap gift shops. Don’t worry, we stopped at those during yesterday’s trek...Lol. The most entertaining thing along the route was the billboards from The Big Texan Steak House advertising a free 72 ounce steak. Of course the words free and steak are in huge letters, what is not in huge letters is the fact that you must consume not only the steak, but a shrimp cocktail, baked potato, salad, and a roll with butter in one hour or your free steak will now be $72.00 (and probably one heck of a nasty stomach ache). The one stop we were looking forward to was just outside the western side of Amarillo. In the middle of a field you will find a row of partially buried Cadillacs covered in what can only be described as an obscene amount of spray paint. You have now found the famous Cadillac Ranch where, should you choose, you can add your very own personal touch to the many layers of spray paint. The Hubs and I chose not to leave our own personal touch, but there were many others who did. I think we both may have gotten a little loopy from the paint fumes surrounding the area. Regardless of the surroundings it was still an enjoyable trip. Truthfully, any day I can spend the entire day with the Hubs makes my heart happy! I hope you too have someone who spending your day with makes your heart happy.

Blessings, Candi 💕
