The kind you eat that is...not the kind that swim around a glass bowl.

Unbelievably it’s already the day before Thanksgiving and I had discovered I was missing two key ingredients for our Thanksgiving dinner. Here in Central Texas our choice of grocery stores consists mainly of H-E-B (and by mainly I mean only) and I cannot convey the kind of sheer madness that occurs in an H-E-B on the day before a holiday! I had finally resigned myself to the thought of having to go to our local H-E-B when I remembered our local Target also carried a limited yet decent stock of groceries. Thankfully, even though Target was also busy, there was none of the madness I would have encountered at an H-E-B! As I wandered the aisles picking up my last minute grocery items I noticed a young couple with their daughter who couldn’t have been more than two or three years old and was cute as a button. As usually happens in a grocery store, my path crossed theirs several times but it was the last time which stood out the most. As I finished up my shopping and headed for the registers, I once again came across the young couple and their daughter. It was then this cute little girl spotted the display of Goldfish crackers and, I’d have to say judging by her reaction, they may have been a favorite of hers. She did as most toddlers would do and headed straight towards the display with arms outstretched. As she grabbed the largest bag in the display, she was quickly told “No, she could not have the large bag” and, as you can guess the tears began to flow. Happily those tears did not last long as dad came to the rescue and quickly handed her a much smaller bag of Goldfish. It was then I was blessed to see the largest smile I have ever seen on such a tiny face. The smile on that adorable little girls face reminded me of the kind of happiness and gratitude we as adults sometimes forget to show. It was a smile which has encouraged me to better show my happiness and gratitude for the little things in life and I hope you too will be inspired to do the same.

Blessings, Candi 💕
