Full disclosure...the gumbo did not contain turkey but, it did contain it’s close cousin the chicken.

Finally the day most Americans look forward to all year has arrived...Thanksgiving, the day we consume copious amounts of our favorite foods and convince ourselves calories don’t exist. Neither the Hubs nor I are big fans of turkey so we decided to go rouge with our choice of cuisine this year. Our Thanksgiving feast consisted of homemade chicken and andouille sausage gumbo with jalapeño cornbread and pecan pie for desert (our love of cajon cuisine is courtesy of a six year stint in Louisiana). Thanksgiving is traditionally a day full of gatherings with family and friends however, this year is a bit different for many of us. Our family gathering consisted of only three people, the Hubs, myself and, the Hubs youngest, Haleigh. Our limited family gathering had more to do with most of our family being spread out across the country rather than the events of this extremely strange and trying year but, I know many others who had to change their plans due to concerns over COVID. Although I was unable to enjoy a day full of gatherings with family and friends, I still find I have many things for which I am thankful. I have been blessed in many ways, not the least of which is with the unconditional love and support of the Hubs. I have also been blessed with many people who are always there for me, through both the good and the bad. Whether you were able to gather with family and friends or not, I hope you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving and have much in your life for which you give thanks.

Blessings, Candi 💕
