I know, I know...smart phones can do a lot these days, but saving a brain?!?!

Rest assured my brain wasn’t really in danger of breaking (it just really felt like it might at that particular moment), but the text notification on my phone couldn’t have come at a better time. As I mentioned yesterday, the fall semester of a course I am taking starts today and there was quite a bit of reading that was assigned. While I had finished the required reading yesterday, I still had some of the recommended reading to wrap up. I have always considered myself to be a reasonably intelligent person, but within the first three pages of this book I was completely lost! I won’t go into details, I will just say that it deals with things like philosophy, epistemology, and other subjects that make my brain feel like it’s about to break. Honestly, I have never had to stop and look up the definition of so many words in my life! So the fact that my phone lit up with a text notification after I had been reading for about 3 hours couldn’t have come at a better time. Having a distraction was exactly what I needed, and this particular distraction was especially welcome. This wasn’t just any old run of the mill text, this text was from a dear friend and former co-worker that I haven’t been in touch with for some time. Seeing her name on the screen immediately brought a smile to my face and made me forget all about the feeling that my brain was breaking. Those few moments spent catching up with my friend, and away from my reading, gave me the boost I needed to finish my reading. We all face challenges some days that make us feel inferior, but if we take a few moments away from that challenge and focus on something positive we may just feel a little bit better about ourselves then we did a moment ago. I hope on the days you may be facing a challenge you remember to take a moment and look for a positive, it may make all the difference.
Blessings, Candi 💕
